The Best Business Model is...

Goodmorning creator! 👋

I say this very often, the best business model is email newsletters.

Okay, so what is an email newsletter? 🤔

It is what you’re reading right now. It can be an article, blog, essay, and more, sent to your email inbox. They can come in almost every theme or interest you could think of, from finance, and sports news to crochet! 🧶

They can also vary in send frequency, from daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, etc. For example, the Creator Monetization newsletter’s (what you’re reading right now) sending frequency is once a week on Monday mornings!

But why should YOU start one? ☝️

  • low cost - my email service provider costs $39/month!

  • can be used to distribute content and get brand deals/sponsors

  • to sell products such as merch or courses

  • it’s YOUR audience

“But aren’t YouTube subscribers, TikTok/Instagram followers your audience?”

Technically, NO!

Think about it like this: social media platforms RENT out THEIR audience to you. If the social media platform for any reason dislikes your content, suspends you, or much worse (gets deleted like TikTok potentially can) then your audience disappears and you spent all that time and effort building a community for it to be taken away.

That’s why the solution is building an email list. Once you have someone’s email, you can message them until they unsubscribe.

So, how do you start a newsletter? 💭

1) First of all, pick a topic. 💡

What are your interests? Hobbies? Goals? You can use tools like Idea Generator to generate a topic or Best Newsletters to see existing newsletters!

Are you good with beauty products? Write about products you bought and give an honest review.

Do you like to garden? Write about the recent plants you added to the garden or hacks you found to make growing vegetables easier!

Reply to this email with some of your ideas, interests, hobbies and I can point you in the right direction!

2) Second, you’ll need an email service provider. 📧

The newsletter you’re currently reading is built on beehiiv, it has an amazing free plan with what I believe to be the best newsletter design-builder as well!

3) The third step is to get started on your first post. ✍️

It likely WON’T win any awards, BUT you’re headed in the right direction.

“Everybody has to start somewhere. You have your whole future ahead of you. Perfection doesn't happen right away.”

Haruki Murakami

4) The fourth step is to promote your newsletter! 🤠

Tell your friends, coworkers, partners, and family to subscribe and give feedback. This is how most newsletter writers will get their first subscribers.

You can also post on social media to promote it. You likely found this newsletter from some of the videos I posted on TikTok or Instagram!

5) Lastly, stay consistent. Write new posts and keep sharing them with anyone who may be interested! 📬

Be sure to stick to a schedule. Most writers will start making content weekly. This gives you enough time to create quality newsletters and build a relationship with your audience without annoying them!

See you next week! -Kane ✌️
